Awesome website. A guy names TexasDave referred me to this site. I am a newb to say the very least. I recently bought a Garrett Ace 150 (its a good beginner for me) But anyhow I have read about Memorial Park and Camp Logan. And some people have said to go check it out. Texas Dave said that you dig there somewhat often and might have some tips. Today I went there and found some old stuff, but nothing fantastic.
But anyhow I checked out the historical marker place, and the elm school, and apparently its a small park right there. So I randomly went down through the forest in Memorial Park. Got any tips, and if you go out with a group I wouldn't mind tagging along.
email me when u can, bdneal@uh.edu

Tim:
The video's were great. Thanks. On your mixed mode program try "reverse mixed mode" by rejecting all the + numbers and accepting all the - ones. When you get over a good target all you will hear the single DC channel. It makes my DFX a real wicked silver vaccume when I use a hotshot 12" coil.
Later
Mark
Baz:
Thanks for the tip Mark! When I get the courage to try mixed mode again, I'll give that a shot.

Hi,
I have been reading your posts on Camp Logan and your finds.
I used to frequent the picnic circle back in 73-74 when in a CB Radio club. Had many club meetings there.
Have owned a detector since the late 60's but haven't TH'd in a few years.
I own 2 Whites machines, a Classic III bought new in 1991, and a Coinmaster 3900DL. Along with those I also have a 4 inch coil and a 12 inch coil for them.
I used to hunt East Beach in Galveston for a few years after I got the Classic III. Your website and posts made me get them out clean them up and put new batteries in them.I hope to get out and re-start my detecting.
You have a cool site. Very informative.
Baz:
Hey Robbie, I'm very happy you like the site. Most of all, I'm glad it has inspired you to dust those machines off and give it another go. That's the real purpose of my site: to inspire people to get into the hobby (back into, in your case), and to help out newcomers.
You should join the forum and get to know the guys! We'd love to have you as a permanent part of the community.
Thanks for signing Robbie and hope to see you on the forum soon!

Thanks for your tutorial on taking andposting photos. I'm new at this and appreciate the help! Got my first one on the DFXonly.com last night. Would you believe I've been trying to do this for six months? Finally bought a HP printer w/ photo card slots. Much easier than my camera's computer photocrop program! Great website by the way! Congrats on the button from the 33rd. Very nice find.
Baz:
Your very welcome. Thanks for stopping by Virginia!

Got to your site by googling Starke Park and saw your write up on your field trip there. It really made me smile. That park is the hardest place to detect I've ever tried. Between the river mud from flooding 5 times and amazing amount of trash I'm suprised you found anything. In fact Seguin as whole has a hard time giving up its coins. I'm somewhat new to the hobby and am having a tough time bringing in my first silver. I did dig an erratic signal with a good vdi 62 yesterday and netted a 1918 S penny! So I'm charged up to go out again. Great web page Thanks for keeping me motivated. Quick question do your 5" or deeper targets give you a solid repeatable signal or do you listen for anything, check depth and dig anything deeper than 5 inches.
Thanks Carl
Baz:
Thanks for the entry and I'm glad you enjoy the site! I've only had a few coins deeper than 5" lock on to within 2 VDI numbers...they were a silver quarter at 6" and a silver half at 6.5". Both were found this past month. Most coins will vary, especially the wheat pennies. If you're in an old area that should have old coins, start listening for those +50 - +60's VDI's that have a bit of +80's peep to them as the coil passes directly over. If they pinpoint deeper than 4", dig. I've dug many wheats that sounded like this. The only Indian Head I've dug also sounded like this. Also check out my November 6th entry.
If you have any more questions, feel free to ask it on my forum. There are some very knowledgeable guys there. Thanks and enjoy the site!
